Rapid tuning

August 14, 2006 - Al

Word has reached us about a new remapping device for your fuel-injected bike. Called 'Rapid Bike', it's esentially a microprocessor-based tuning box that allows you to alter fuelling, igntion timing and rev limits to suit different engine tuning setups. So if you've fitted an exhaust, race filter, or other parts, it can change injection and ignition settings to suit. Even on a stock bike, alterations to fuelling can often give power and rideability improvements.
The Rapid Bike unit is modular, so if you change bikes you just need a new wiring harness, and a new map flashed onto the unit. Priced from £300-£400, it's a little pricier than a Power Commander, but offers some more features. We're getting one in to try soon, check back for more info.
