Toseland replica BKS leathers

April 28, 2008 - Jon Pearson

We've seen Stingray skin (yes, the big fish) used in certain products before but never to this extent. Mouldings with BKS branding sit on the shoulders and as for the gloves, well, it's ecological-correctness gone mad. Or something.

The bio-diversity continues with Kangaroo leather in the main body panels in order to reduce the weight of the suit and to increase rider comfort, cowhide is used for the arms and legs. Double-layered leather runs over the shoulder and upper arm, elbow, forearm, hip, arse, thigh, knee and shin right down to the ankle. So safety, a key feature on any self-respecting BKS suit, is top of the agenda.

Pre-curved arms and legs give the suit rider shape but triple aspect waist stretch panel better adapts it to riding crouches and easier torso expansion when you breath. There's extensive use of stretch Kevlar fabric (inside arm, back of leg, and around the neck) to further aid comfort.

James Toseland's “Limited Edition” race suit is available in limited numbers (156) but at a very reasonable £799.99, which, if you're familiar with BKS leathers of old, will be a surprising price tag.

BKS Toseland replica gloves are £159.99
