Oxford Products Chillout Turtleneck

June 10, 2008

It's a mark of the ropey start to the summer that I've only recently put this windproof neck warmer away. From September last year to June this year, it's been my companion on all sorts of rides – from chilly morning launches in Spain to drizzled commuting in Croydon. There's nothing too special about it – it's made from polyester fleece at the back, and Oxford's own 'OxProTex' windproof material in front, with a porous section covering the mouth and nose. There's enough material at the front to add some extra insulation to your chest, and prevent leaks down your jacket. And the back is minimalist enough to prevent bunching up and making sportsbike crouches uncomfortable. It gets stinky after a few weeks, but a toss in the washbin brings it back good as new.

Cheap, tough, and a decent performer.
