Lascorz wins at Valencia WSS ahead of Foret, Jones
Young Spaniard Joan Lascorz - he is a bloke - was a convincing winner of the Valencia world supersport race ahead of Fabien Foret and Craig Jones.
Lascorz scored his maiden world supersport win and took over the lead in the championship - he is the only rider in the top eight of the championship to have scored points in every round so far in 2008.
Andrew Pitt (Hannspree Ten Kate) crashed out while in the leading group, while Craig Jones consolidated his front row start, sitting in second for a while until Yamaha Germany duo of Foret and Broc Parkes put him under pressure. Foret passed Jones but could make no inroads into Lascorz' lead and that's how it finished, with the Spaniard managing a four second lead to the flag.
Johnny Rea on the other Ten Kate bike finished in sixth, with Chris Walker holding off Triumph-mounted Aussie Mark Aitchison for ninth.
Jones is now fifth in the championship and, given that his title sponsors were present at a race for the first time, it wasn't a bad weekend for the Jones boy and the Parkalgar team.
