In a surprise move, Michael Laverty announced that he will be racing in the British Superbike Championship on a Honda.

In any case, the move came as something of a surprise to his old team, though Laverty’s reasoning seemed sound. “I think that in Evo trim – the way the superbikes will be run this year – that the Honda will be a strong package. When I was on track with the Evo-spec Hondas this year, they seemed strong, and it’ll maybe be a stronger bike than the Yamaha, under the new regulations,” said Laverty, who will be working with Adrian Gorst, a crew chief with a great track record when it comes to winning superbike championships at world and British level.
