Tuesday 11th September 2012 saw the fourth annual Bennetts Ultimate Track Day take place, hosted by the UK's No.1 Bike Insurance Specialist. 100 lucky competition winners won their place through the Bennetts Facebook page and were given exclusive access to mingle with Bennetts-sponsored MotoGP superstar Cal Crutchlow and double World Superbike champion James Toseland alongside celebrity instructor; three times British champion John Reynolds at Oulton Park in Cheshire. Following a hearty breakfast, the winners, select media and guests had the opportunity to take on the track as groups of novice, intermediate and advanced riders tested the tricky conditions during the morning on-track sessions. Attendees were then treated to a pit garage Bike Clinic with Cal, James and John who offered off-track tuition by taking the group through the differences between riding on the road and on track, explaining in detail about tyre pressures, suspension and riding positions. The entertainment and action didn't stop during the lunch-break with five extremely lucky competition winners fulfilling a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride pillion with Cal or James around the picturesque Oulton Park circuit on board the Bennetts Yamaha R1. A rider Q&A session gave the winners the opportunity to ask any burning biker questions and hear some fantastic anecdotes from all three, including how it felt for Cal to be the first Brit on a MotoGP podium in 12 years following his recent success in Brno. The Q&A was followed by a raffle for a signed Cal Crutchlow helmet, a signed pair of James Toseland's last ever race boots and a signed set of Scott Redding leathers. Before the riders got back out onto the track for the afternoon sessions they were treated to a stunning stunt display on the start/finish straight from 'Vertical Trix'. A familiar face out on track was Coronation Street's Oliver Mellor who was enjoying riding a BMW S1000RR and guidance from the star riders having made his dash up from London all worthwhile. Meanwhile, the Bennetts Babes provided refreshments for all and a bit of pit-lane glamour throughout the day.
