KTM announces the 1290 Super Adventure. Yes they are crazy.

The KTM 1190 Adventure is no sluggo bike. With a lively 150bhp and a lightweight (for an adventure bike, anyway) chassis, it’s the most involving of the big continent crusher class. So, to sit alongside this already-manic adventure loon, KTM has just announced the 1290 Super Adventure. Yes, they are putting the motor out of the Super Duke R into an adventure bike chassis. This smacks to us of a backroom engineering project made reality and we bloody love it.

The Super Adventure will arrive with the 2015 model year bikes as ‘the pinnacle of luxury sport touring’. It’s basically a premium version of the 1190 Adventure with more power, more torque and a larger fuel capacity. Electronics wise, it’ll have the Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) package currently available for the 1190 Adventure. We know KTM is working on a semi-active suspension system, like the one on the BMW HP4 and Ducati Multistrada and we’d put money on it debuting on this bike.

The full unveiling will be at the INTERMOT show in Cologne, Germany at the end of September. Excited? We are.
