Yamaha issues safety recall on MT09 and XSR900 models.

Yamaha UK has issued a safety related recall to all owners of MT09/A MT09TRA and XSR900 models.

‘lower handlebar holders may become loose and in the worst case scenario if not replaced this can result in a loss of steering.’

Yamaha advises that owners contact their nearest Authorised Yamaha dealer at your earliest convenience, quoting your chassis number and current mileage. If required, they’ll arrange a convenient time to replace parts with ‘countermeasure parts’.

Obviously the work will be carried out free of charge. We’re huge fans of both the MT09 and the XSR900, both of which happen to particularly handy wheelie bikes. We’re not saying you don’t actually need the front wheel or the handlebars on either of them, but it does give us an excuse to show a couple of tidy wheelie shots of both bikes. If you own either, we recommend you get in touch with your dealer, pronto.
