These Yoshimura silencers, now fitted on Chris’ long-term R1 (see pages 86-87 September 2011), are, you have to admit, a lovely-looking pair. And it’s a good job too, because they cost enough to bankroll a European nation or two. Yoshimura’s reputation speaks for itself, and there’s no doubting the finish-quality of these slip-ons. What about the performance facts and figures? The claimed output gain (baffles out) is 4bhp – that’s £310 per bhp. Meanwhile, the claimed weight-saving is 1.7kg. Naturally, the people who fork out on these end-cans will be those who are (understandably) smitten with the glistening carbon finish and infatuated with the Yoshi brand. There are cheaper ways to acquire a few more horses and shed a bit of weight (i.e. by buying fewer doughnuts) but where’s the fun in that?
