America
The new 865cc Triumph America offers an accessible entry point into Triumph’s cruiser range.
The America’s styling is classic laid back cruiser, with the 16” front and 15” rear cast alloy wheels sporting high-walled tyres for minimum handling and maximum cool. Pulled back handlebars and feet forward controls.
A 690mm seat height and an easy-to-manage 250kg wet weight, fully fuelled and ready to ride should keep the short in the leg happy.
Triumph’s parallel-twin power plant provides an alternative to usual V-twins found in this market. So despite being called the America it’s all a very British configuration. The America delivers a healthy 61PS, which isn’t going to blow you’re head off but the air-cooled engine is totally modern, with fuel injection for clean running and low maintenance. Subtle machining on the cooling fins of the engine barrel block and cylinder head picks out the classic shape.
The new America is available in Phantom Black or Cinder Red / Morello Red.
America LT
The new America LT is based on the America but adds an extra layer of touring capability with an array of factory fitted extras designed to make long distance riding comfortable and convenient.
The tall wind-shield doesn’t look great, but deflects the worst of the weather and, fortunately, is quickly and easily detachable (via a pair of spring-loaded levers at each side of the screen) to achieve a completely alternative look. At the back, the America LT’s leather panniers are showerproof, do alright if it rains, but no good if it pours or you decided to go deep sea diving.
The America LT model is available in either Pacific Blue or Sapphire Blue.
