MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez has broken his leg while Flat Tracking, it has been reported.

The 21 year old Spaniard was training near Lleida, West of Barcelona when the accident happened. The injury sounds worse than it is, a spiral fracture of the distal third of his right fibula.

According to top MotoGP Doctor Xavier Mir who has treated Marquez;

“The results showed no ligament damage or dislocation and no need to proceed with surgery. I expect he will need 3-4 weeks to fully recover”

The news means Marquez definitely miss the next test at Sepang in a fortnight’s time and possibly the Bridgestone tyre test the following week at Australia’s Phillip Island. The opening round of the championship is four weeks away and Marquez is expected to make a full recovery in time for the race.
