MotoE World Cup Calendar announced for 2019 MotoGP Season

Late last year, Superbike magazine was out in Portofino with Energica on the morning that it, in partnership with Dorna, announced it was to be the supplier for the sustainable 2019 MotoE World Cup series. We then went on to ride Energica’s Ego which is the bike that the MotoE series is based on, but the bike used for racing will be the Corsa version which is capable of 170 MPH (270 KPH) via 160 BHP (120 KW) . If you’ve been watching or even attended a MotoGP round this year, you’ll have seen the numerous demo laps before the premier class each race.

Around the time of the announcement, Energica speculated there’d be 6 races of 10 laps each at European tracks in the middle of the MotoGP calendar. The calendar for 2019 has now been officially released, and it’s set to be:

  1. Jerez – 5th May
  2. Le Mans – 19th May
  3. Sachsenring – 7th July
  4. Austria – 11th August
  5. Misano – 15th September

So that’s 5 races in total, not the 6 we were expecting. Riders are yet to be announced, but we believe that the Aragon round in a fortnights time will see news on that front. All satellite teams on the current MotoGP grid will enter two riders, while the the Marc, SIC, VDS, Ajo, Sito Pons and Intact Moto2 teams, as well as the SIC58 Moto3 team, will run just one bike each.

The first test for the MotoE series will be held on November 23-25 at Jerez, a week after the season’s final race meeting, with two more tests scheduled for mid-March and late-April in 2019 also at Jerez.
