Sean Emmett bailed until March 2014.

Despite finally being allowed to fly home from the UAE, following the tragic death of his wife, GP, WSB and BSB racer Sean Emmett was arrested upon arrival at Heathrow. Emmett, 43, had stopped in Dubai on his way home from a race as a newlywed with his 27 year-old wife Abbie. During their honeymoon she fell from a hotel balcony and was tragically killed.  Investigating officials detained Sean’s passport and he wasn’t able to leave the country.

He missed his wife’s funeral and had the backing of a nation of race fans in his effort to get back to the UK. Finally, after a ten-month wait, the investigation concluded, his passport was returned and he was allowed to fly home.

Thinking it was all over, Sean landed at Heathrow in early December, only to find UK police waiting to arrest him on suspicion of the murder of his wife. Ushered into a waiting Police van and taken to a Surrey police station, Sean remained in custody while inquiries continued. Sean fully expected to be interviewed by the Police on his return and was bailed to reappear in March following further inquiries by UK Police.
