We were down at our mate Dan Miles’ workshop earlier, and he had something a bit out of the ordinary on the workbench. We’re used to seeing BMW S1000RR, Kawasaki ZX-10R and Yamaha R1 motors stripped and rebuilt, but Dan’s got a huge Honda Gold Wing engine in for rebuilding. Well, two of them actually – the customer’s Wing trike has water leaking inside the engine, and he’s picked up a spare engine. Dan’s going to strip both down and make one good lump out of the bits.
The motor on the bench has had a tough life – it’s already had one piston replaced, and there are signs of a welded repair on the crankcases. But the heads are good, and Dan’s confident he’ll get the job done in a few days…
