It appears Honda have decided something needs to be done about the KTM dominance that has persisted for the last 13 years of the Dakar Rally.

Their answer?  The 2014 CRF450Rally.

Unveiled by HRC at an event in Sao Paulo this week, it’s clear their latest weapon to take on next year’s Dakar is a serious contender.  Last year was the first year back at the Dakar for Honda after a 24 year absence.

Based on the production CRF450X, the 2014 model has a variety of updates over last year’s returning model.  Testing begins at The Morocco Rally on the 13th of October with the UK’s Sam Sunderland piloting one of 5 HRC backed machines at the event in preparation for January’s gruelling 8000 km event.
